Malton Fire Station benefits from asbestos expertise
HCS Mechanical Services frequently work in partnership with sister company Clarke’s Environmental when asbestos needs to be removed prior to a plumbing or heating job.
When a refurbishment survey at Malton Fire Station picked up asbestos in the plant room, the HCS engineers were able to call on their colleagues at Clarke’s immediately. A team from Clarke’s spent three days cleaning the station’s plant room, ahead of the redesign and refit.
HCS then moved back in to work on the rebuild of the plant room and installation of a condensing boiler. The work was completed within seven working days.
Ashley Smith, Commercial Director at HCS, said: “Being able to call on our sister company Clarkes, made a massive difference in terms of time – and therefore limited disruption to the client. If we’d had to go to a third party after the survey had shown asbestos was present, we could have had a delay of several days when the plant room would have been closed down for health and safety. That would have meant a cold fire station in the middle of winter.”
